contemporary visual artist
My history as a queer artist and transient being, raised between three continents, motivates me to create imagined visual universes that offer a glimpse into optimistic futurist modes of envisioning our collective destinies. I am concerned with navigating themes utopian and dystopian ecologies by exploring and extrapolating from existing patterns of the world around me. Through subdued colors and descriptive lines, my speculative landscapes are equally filled with spontaneities and intricacies.
As a teacher and practitioner of yoga, my meditative practice seeps into my work, creating modes of regeneration for both the viewer and myself, allowing me to tackle my identity on my own terms, while simultaneously giving me permission to escape from the weight and confines of these labels. The obsessive repetition of patterns facilitates redefinition and rediscovery of the same form.
My commitment to interdisciplinary processes compels me to dabble in performance, video, animation and more recently fiber art and soft sculpture. As I continue deepening my practice through new material understandings and further education, I hope my work can invade larger spaces, and someday the world.
